On Tuesday 25th October two of our year 11 students boarded the Helen Mary R, a 67ft yacht for a 6 day 5 night sailing/training voyage.

This is what the girls thought of their adventure...

“We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was a great experience. We learnt something new every day and met some amazing people who we worked successfully with as a team and will remain in contact with them.
It was a lot of hard work and we suffered a little sea sickness! We had a few challenges as a team as there is a lot to remember. It was an amazing feeling to get the sails up and sail from place to place. We sailed from Plymouth to Cawsands to Fowey to Falmouth and then returned to Plymouth. We had quite a few laughs as well. The wind was so strong one morning that the yacht landed vertically on her starboard side, sending our cups of teas and coffee across the galley!

It was a fantastic experience being a crew member on the Helen Mary R, she was an amazing 67ft long 30 tonne boat and due to our experience has broadened our horizons.
