The Sea is our Classroom

Our mission is to advance the education and personal development of young people in the South West of England through the excitement and challenge of offshore sailing opportunities.

Young people can leave our voyages with competence based qualifications which complement those gained in formal education alongside personal development plans which embed the lessons learnt onboard and relate them to life ashore. Voyages add dimension and depth of knowledge allowing the young person to progress more easily to further & higher education and employment.

We truly believe that the Sea is our Classroom and has the potential to change any young person's life for the better. Inside every young person, there is a confident, positive, individual trying to break out. Over the short time we've been operating we have been lucky to help young people achieve something tangible. They returned to the classroom, started a college course, got a qualification, found a job or chose to remain with the Morvargh wing and become a volunteer, giving back all they've learnt and continuing their development.

We have developed two strands to our youth programmes; these are:

Focus Point is a personal development and leadership programme designed to use the principles of experiential learning, personal challenge, and internal debriefing to create positive change in a young person. Voyages normally last for six days, and progression is through three stages, leading finally to a young person re-engaging as a volunteer.

Schools Marine Environment Workshops are delivered in partnership with the National Marine Aquarium. Run over two days the workshop is designed to be a hands-on, experiential learning experience allowing young people to study in a whole different kind of school – a 57ft floating classroom and the National Marine Aquarium's state of the art Aqua Lab.

Both strands offer recordable outcomes at all stages with measurable successes throughout.
